Role: Trainee Buyer Salary: £23,887.50 per annum Contract type: Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am-5pm Responsibilities Implement efficient inventory practices, accurate forecasting, and replenishment. Maintain data integrity for inventory records. Support stock control and store activities to contribute to sales and profit targets. Uphold high level of inventory management & coordination. Accurately forecast and report inventory requirements to ensure optimal stock availability. Manage aged stock and invoiced stock effectively, identifying opportunities to improve margin. Ensure purchasing transactions are efficient and cost-effective. Maintain thorough understanding of purchased products, including pricing and volume trends. Support purchasing criteria based stock and non-criteria stock (part exchange & SYC vehicles), maintaining cost-effective stock levels appropriate to budgeted volume levels. Expedite purchase orders and resolve issues to avoid unnecessary expenses. Manage Purchase Agreements and ensure purchase order accuracy. Develop strong relationships and communicate effectively with management, procurement, logistics, and sales teams to manage working capital, optimise space, and improve margins. Promote cooperation between departments and across the group. Manage and achieve stock KPIs, identifying areas for improvement. Identify areas for margin improvement or inventory optimisation and liaise with management. Qualifications Comfortable working within a fast‑paced environment with ability to prioritise tasks. Effective time management and organisational skills. Ability to learn and absorb new information quickly. Experience working with a large number of product SKUs across multi‑sites. Strong numerical and data interpretation skills. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong computing/systems‑based skills including MS Office and Excel proficiency. Proactive approach, ability to work on own initiative. Effective communication skills (verbal & written). Comfortable with close inter‑department working (stock control, logistics, sales).
