OverviewBe part of a transformative rail infrastructure programme with Octavius, a key delivery partner on Network Rail's Southern and North West Central frameworks. This initiative under Control Period 7 (2024–2029) focuses on renewing and enhancing critical railway assets across the South and between London and the North West. As an Assistant Development Manager, you will support the planning and delivery of multidisciplinary projects—from station enhancements and civils renewals to electrification and plant upgrades. You’ll work closely with Development managers, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects are scoped, developed, and delivered efficiently. This is a hybrid role based from our offices in Manchester, Birmingham or Blackfriars to include site visits and working from home.We have 3 openings: 1 on the Isle of Wight (near Southampton and Portsmouth), one in Essex, and either Birmingham or Manchester. ResponsibilitiesAssist in the development of project scopes, feasibility studies, and option selection.Support stakeholder engagement, including Network Rail, local authorities, and design consultants.Coordinate early-stage design and planning activities across civils, stations, and electrification projects.Monitor programme timelines, risks, and budgets, escalating issues as needed.Contribute to value engineering and innovation initiatives.Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders. About YouDegree or equivalent experience in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. (The Manchester/Birmingham role requires an Electrical Engineering degree).Strong organisational and communication skills.A proactive, collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.Experience in infrastructure, rail, or construction projects working for either a contracting group or consulting engineer.Familiarity with project lifecycle stages and stakeholder coordination.
