Advanced Mental Health Clinical Pharmacist

OverviewWe are seeking an inspiring and dynamic pharmacist to join our inpatient mental health pharmacy team in Chelmsford. The role will provide clinical leadership within the clinical pharmacy service, support the medicines-related care of patients, address and improve existing pathways in mental health, participate in training, education and research, and support robust medicines optimisation. This post will deputise for the Pharmacist Team Manager for Adult and Elderly Inpatient Mental Health Services in Mid and South Essex and will have responsibility for Mid and South Essex Inpatient and Urgent Care Services.ResponsibilitiesModel best practice on wards and coach ward teams to ensure patients receive optimal pharmaceutical care.Set the professional standard and develop pharmacy team members to achieve their best and transition to the next level of their careers.Act as the senior referral point for healthcare professionals working within local inpatient and urgent care services and undertake clinical audit where required to improve services.Develop, promote and implement high‑quality, evidence‑based and cost‑effective use of medicines to maximise benefits and minimise risks.Provide highly specialised advice in medicines optimisation for patients with mental illness and develop tools that support the safe use of psychotropic medicines.Assist patients and families with medication optimisation, provide information to team members and liaise with other care providers to enhance seamless transfer of care.Maintain medicines monitoring and provide expert advice on the physical health and wellbeing of service users presenting with complex behaviour.QualificationsMaster's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.Evidence of postgraduate training and continuing professional development in clinical pharmacy practice.Experience in mental health pharmacy practice is preferred but not essential; transferrable skills and a commitment to operational delivery of Great Care are essential.Demonstrated ability to create a high‑performing team and exemplify EPUT values of we care, we learn and we empower.ExperienceExperience mentoring and line‑managing teams with energy and enthusiasm.Track record of similar roles within a non‑specialist trust is encouraged.Benefits27 days holiday, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 10 years’ service.Excellent pension of up to 14.5% of your pensionable pay.Staff discounts including Blue Light Card, NHS discount offers and other staff benefits.£8,000 relocation package for move to Essex.Season ticket loans (interest‑free) for travel via tram, rail or bus.Flexible working available from day one for most roles.EEO StatementOur Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
