OverviewContract: PermanentSalary: £28-30K dependant on experience + 40% shift allowance + benefits packageHours: 36 hour week (10pm – 8am)Job SummaryIn this role, you will set and operate CNC milling machines and Surface Grinders in the manufacture and repair of elastomer & plastic moulds, press-tools and other tooling components.You will demonstrate a proactive mindset for process development, assist in increasing automation and utilisation of equipment, support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities, whilst supporting colleagues and Managers to meet quality, delivery and cost objectives.You will comply with the company’s safety, environmental and quality policies at all times.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSet & Operate CNC milling machines (3 & 4 axis)Set & Operate CNC/NC surface grindersCarry out in process Quality Inspections and rectify/escalate Quality issuesComply with all corporate and local site Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and regulationsComply with all machine instructions and ensure proper use of equipment and assetsComply with all process work instructions, control plans, maintenance and safety schedulesRead, understand & interpret Engineering drawings correctlyAct in accordance with the Company’s Code of Conduct and Guiding PrinciplesReport any near miss accidents, incidents or HSE irregularitiesCarry out HSE and Workplace InspectionsEnsure that your work area(s) are always kept clean and tidyEnsure your PPE is used and maintained correctlyDemonstrate a proactive mindset for process developmentEnsure maximum machine efficiency through effective prioritization and use of machine automationSupport and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activitiesSupport the business in meeting all quality, delivery and cost objectivesReport issues, problems or irregularities beyond your control to the appropriate person or via the LDMS escalation processOther duties as assignedEducationRequired: Formal engineering apprenticeship to NVQ3 level/City and Guilds or equivalent relevant work experienceWork ExperienceNo min required 0 - 2 years of relevant work experience requiredPrior manufacturing experience in an industrial setting (pharmaceutical industry experience preferred) requiredExperience with using SolidWorks and AutoCAD requiredPreferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExperience in setting & operation of CNC equipmentFamiliarity and experience in on-machine programmingFamiliarity and experience of use of measuring equipmentFamiliarity and experience of interpreting Engineering drawingsFamiliarity and experience of modern cutting tools and techniquesExperience and conversant PC userDesirable: Experience in Fanuc machine tool controlsExperience in multi-axis machine toolsExperience in elastomer mould, plastic mould and press-tool manufactureExperience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surface grinders)Knowledge of other toolroom machinery (cylindrical grinders, EDM, WEDM)Experience in automation processes & database managed machine toolsExperience of Lean Manufacturing techniquesExperienced in Offline programming & part verificationAdditional RequirementsRequired: Formal engineering apprenticeship to NVQ3 level/City and Guilds or equivalent relevant work experienceWest embraces diversity and equality of opportunity.
