Graphics Hardware Debug Engineer

OverviewWe are looking for a hard-working, creative and motivated engineer to join our GPU development team. You will collaborate with hardware design, device driver, and verification teams to work on top-level hardware and hardware/software debug. The role is based in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will be an experienced hardware design engineer with a good understanding of software and device drivers, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results on ambitious timelines. You will work as part of a cross-site team and take ownership of tasks required for successful bring-up and debugging of complex tests, games and benchmarks for cutting-edge GPUs. You will work closely with the architecture, model, design, verification and device driver teams to ensure Arm GPU products are delivered to customers at the highest quality levels. You will be involved in GPU development from early concept stages to final delivery of the GPU to customers.ResponsibilitiesRoot-cause debugging of complex functional issues and HW/SW interactions.Collaborate with a wide range of teams to establish, drive and coordinate debug efforts.Develop tooling and scripts to facilitate and optimise debugging.Review new GPU technology for debuggability and identify new debug challenges.Interact with teams responsible for assembly, testing and delivery of GPU hardware roadmap products.Required Skills and ExperienceStrong fundamentals in computer systems, with experience in top-level hardware debugging of CPU, GPU, or other accelerator IP.Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with the ability to collaborate with both hardware and software teams.Experience with hardware description languages, preferably SystemVerilog.Proficient in version control and code-review systems such as Git and Gerrit.Skilled in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, JSON, Tcl, Make, etc.Nice to HaveUnderstanding of GPU architecture and micro-architecture.Understanding of general-purpose CPU architecture (preferably ARM) and interconnect architecture (preferably AMBA).Experience with complex SoC design and host/accelerator integration (configuration and communication mechanisms, interrupts, memory management, memory coherency).Understanding of computer graphics techniques and APIs (OpenGL, Vulkan) or compute APIs (OpenCL).Understanding of hardware and software logging and tracing mechanisms and tools to improve debugging efficiency.Experience in SoC integration: low power techniques and UPF, multi-clock CDC and multi-power-domain designs, DFT, LBIST/MBIST, etc.In ReturnIn return you will influence the direction of Arm Mali and Immortalis GPU product lines, learn about the latest GPU and graphics technologies, and apply your engineering skills to build support for these technologies and influence millions of devices.
