Sprayshop Welder/Fabricator

About the roleWe are looking for a skilledwelder / fabricatorto cut and join metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites.You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure.You must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.You will be given any required training and be provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to make sure you can work safely and effectively.Main ResponsibilitiesRead drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and check qualityDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirementsSet up components for welding according to specifications (, cut material with powered saws to match measurements)Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be weldedAlign components using jigs, callipers, rulers etc. and clamp piecesWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positionsRepair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gapsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyWeld multiple metals from aluminium to mild steelHours of WorkMonday to Friday, toAbout youEssentialProven experience as welderExperience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG etc.)Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, callipers etc.)Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawingsKnowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)Possess an attention to detailWelding Certification required and the successful applicant will be asked to provid evidence of thisDesirable5S experience to help in bay and tool organisationAbility to drop into the maintenance department and help with and machine break down fabrication requirementsAbility to weld cast materialsAbout our BenefitsAverage yearly salary of £26,000 to £27144 (depending on experience)Overtime available to boost your earning potentialTraining and opportunities to grow your career with usCompany PensionSIP – ability to become a shareholder via our Share SchemeFlexible benefits offering (including health, wellbeing and money saving opportunities)About wienerberger UK & IrelandBuilding Product Design is part of wienerberger UK & Ireland.
