What you will do Assist anaesthetists in preparing operating theatres and anaesthetic rooms before surgery. Monitor patients’ vital signs during surgical procedures and communicate observations to the anaesthetist. Ensure the correct functionality and cleanliness of anaesthetic equipment. Support patients with information and reassurance pre- and post-operation. Maintain absolute compliance with surgical and infection control protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a seamless operative process. Requirements of the role Degree or Diploma in Operating Department Practice or Nursing. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for ODPs or with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for Theatre Nurses. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support (ALS), Immediate Life Support (ILS), or Surgical First Assistant (SFA) training are beneficial. Experience in an operating theatre or critical care setting, including anaesthetic, scrub, or recovery roles. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment maintenance, and infection control practices.
