Data Protection Specialist – Colchester City Council Join to apply for the Data Protection Specialist role at Colchester City Council. This role will develop and coordinate effective data protection and information governance across the council, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. Duties Act as the first point of contact for data breaches, queries around personal information handling and provide advice to stakeholders. Manage registers, logs and actions to track and report on data protection projects; manage incidents, queries, risks and draft sharing agreements. Respond to FOI’s and subject access requests; support the Data Protection Officer. Carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments for new projects and develop key resources and activities such as policies, procedures, training and guidance documents. Qualifications and Skills Degree level or equivalent, with a GDPR or data protection qualification or extensive knowledge of information governance and data protection legislation. Strong knowledge of personal data best practice and experience in providing advice and guidance. Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills; able to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
