Finance Manager Base pay range: £38,000-£41,500 Industry: Public Sector and Government Location: Spalding, UK (Hybrid – minimum 2 days on-site per week) Summary: We're supporting a respected public sector organisation in their search for a Finance Manager to join their team in Spalding or Boston. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys a mix of hands‑on financial management, team leadership, and strategic business partnering within the public sector and government environment. The Finance Manager will lead a small finance team responsible for delivering accurate budgets, management accounts, and financial reporting for a local authority. You'll play a key role in supporting service managers, ensuring robust financial governance, and helping to shape long‑term financial planning. Responsibilities Take responsibility for monthly budget monitoring for both revenue and capital programmes, producing clear variance analysis and actionable insight. Lead and develop a finance team, ensuring high‑quality delivery and continuous improvement. Coordinate annual budget setting, forecasting, and year‑end reporting. Strengthen financial controls and ensure compliance with policy, audit, and statutory requirements. Provide financial advice and guidance to non‑financial managers, helping them understand and manage their budgets effectively. Work collaboratively with senior colleagues across finance and operations to deliver joined‑up, efficient solutions. Candidate Profile Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) with relevant continuing professional development. Strong background in local government finance, with experience delivering annual budgets, management accounts, and financial statements. Confident people leader with experience developing high‑performing teams. Proficient in financial systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent communicator, capable of influencing stakeholders and explaining complex financial information clearly. Organised and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
