Highly Specialist Aseptic Services Technician Join the Christie NHS Trust's world‑leading Aseptic Services Unit, based in Manchester, to support the production of clinical trial materials and other specialised medicines. Job Summary Responsible for day‑to‑day running of the unlicensed production unit, managing technical staff, training, stock, HR duties and quality assurance. Key activities include aseptic preparation of clinical trials, SACT, EAMS, FOC and gene therapy injectable medicines, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with GMP and clinical governance, and maintaining facility standards. Key Responsibilities Assist the Chief Aseptic Technician in managing the technical element of the aseptic service. Organise and manage daily workload planning and staff utilisation. Supervise and provide training to production staff, ensuring competence in aseptic techniques. Maintain safety, environmental and quality standards, including stock control and SOP review. Participate in internal and external audits and implement remedial action plans. Act as a super‑user for the pharmacy computer and temperature monitoring system. Where qualified, perform product approval for unlicensed products under section 10 exemption. Support recruitment, staff development and performance management. Person Specification Essential Qualifications BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services. Registered with the appropriate professional body and current CPD. Substantial experience in aseptic services, including audit, SOP development and staff training. Desirable Qualifications Product Approval Accreditation Programme (PAAP) qualification. Management or leadership qualification to diploma level. Pharmacy Accuracy Checking qualification. Essential Attributes Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritise work, motivate others and train staff. Flexible, reliable and professional attitude. Essential Experience & Skills Experience of writing and developing SOPs. Staff training and development experience. Knowledge of GMP, pharmacy practice and stock control systems. Computer literacy and proficiency with pharmacy systems.
