Role Purpose The Head of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) will report to the Sureserve Compliance Electrical Managing Director, with functional alignment to the Sureserve Group Head of Safety. The role is responsible for providing professional SHEQ leadership within Sureserve Electrical and its subsidiary business units, supporting and advising Directors, Senior Management Teams, employees and, where applicable, contractors. The Chief responsibilities include improving SHEQ performance through the design, delivery and maintenance of relevant SHEQ systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, and other applicable standards and legislation. The Holder will implement a SHEQ change programme to embed a positive SHEQ culture across the organisation, ensuring timely delivery of associated action plans and operational programmes, and overseeing consistent delivery of SHEQ training measures. Accountabilities Act as the responsible person for all SHEQ matters across Sureserve Compliance Electrical and subsidiary business units. Represent and lead Sureserve Electrical’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality compliance across the UK. Represent Sureserve Electrical as part of the Group SHEQ structure, collaborating with the SMT to effectively manage issue resolution. Partner with the Sureserve Group Head of Safety to promote Group Policy and maintain ISO standards, ensuring rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place. Initiate and oversee a SHEQ leadership change programme across the organisation. Ensure Method Statements, Risk Assessments and CoSHH Assessments are produced for all business activities. Set the strategic direction for effective SHEQ leadership and workplace wellbeing programmes, including mental health first aid. Lead accident and incident investigations (root cause analysis). Proactively engage with leadership and key employees to maintain continuous improvement in SHEQ management. Prepare and communicate internal and Group SHEQ Board reports, delivering key monitoring statistics to the SMT. Manage legal, compliance and audit activities, establishing compliance systems, ISO standards and government legislation processes. Lead with the Group Insurance to manage personal injury and property damage claims, including escalation to SMT and insurance providers. Represent and liaise with Regulatory and Local Authority bodies, managing investigations and supplying required documentation. Maintain accreditations to CHAS, Constructionline and other professional bodies. Achieve external verified awards for SHEQ, such as ROSPA and Business Safety Council awards. Manage the training matrix, ensuring awareness of expiring qualifications and scheduling support for staff. Skills, Experience & Qualifications Previous experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 Management Systems. Minimum NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Graduate IOSH Status. Experience in the roles of Principal Contractor, Principal Designer and Contractor under CDM2015 and the Building Safety Act 2022. Environmental and Quality Management qualifications. Full UK driving licence, essential for regular national travel.
