You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and technically challenges projects within this fast paced sector. WSP are currently involved in numerous projects, working with Colocation Providers, End Users and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.To find out more about our Mission Critical business click on the following link and discover what awaits you at WSP: https://www.wsp.com/en-GB/sectors/mission-critical-facilitiesA Little More About Your Role…Candidates will support the team in developing designs for mechanical distribution systems from CHW, HVAC, Fuel to LTHWProvide advice to clients regarding mechanical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.Leading the design of data centre mechanical systems and equipmentProvide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.Produce technical specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirementsEnsure coordination other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineersProduce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers’ requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.Operational ResponsibilitiesAble to work using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.Able to work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.Complete the detailed designs of mission critical facilities and all mechanical systems associated to data centres.Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.Take responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.Review the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works.What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…Knowledge and experience in designing mechanical systems for data centresChartered status (or working towards Chartered status) with CIBSE or IMechE or equivalent experienceTechnical MEP knowledge of relevant UK and EU regulations, design guides, etcHave an understanding of the of Uptime Institute Tier Classification SystemFlexible approach to meet the demands of projectsHave working understanding of TAS of IES and Hevacomp to allow the allocation / direction of work on projectsHave understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projectsHave working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projectsAble to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals within and outside of the WSP teamExperience of working to timescales and deadlinesMechanical Design Skills RequiredU value calculationsHeat loss calculationsHeat gain calculationsPipe sizing (LTHW, CHW, HWS, CWS etc)Pump sizingDuct sizingFan sizingPsychrometricsControl valve sizing and authorityThermal modellingBMS SystemsHave understanding of CFD analysisDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
