Our client is an entrepreneurial, high growth, PE backed technology group going through significant growth. Reporting to the Group CFO, the Interim Group Financial Controller will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of finance operations and process improvement. This is a six month assignment starting ASAP.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this Interim Group Financial Controller role include but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of finance operations (AP, AR, general accounting, cash management, etc.).
  2. Oversee all financial control activities, e.g., month-end close process, preparation and review of management accounts, comprehensive balance sheet substantiation.
  3. Ensure the reliability of the financial reporting (internal and external reporting), including maintaining efficient accounting and reporting systems and procedures for internal and external reporting.
  4. Review and analyse trends, including:
  5. Analysing expenses and revenues to identify opportunities to improve performance.
  6. Reviewing actuals against budget / forecast on a monthly basis and ensure proper resolution of major variances.
  7. Ensure statutory tax reporting and compliance is completed on time and accurately.
  8. Manage and coach the finance team including supporting in recruitment where needed.
  9. Own finance policies and processes, ensuring strong governance and controls are in place.

Skills

The skills and experience required for this Interim Group Financial Controller role include but are not limited to:

  1. Qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  2. Minimum 5 years PQE working in a fast-paced SME environment ideally software or tech.
  3. Strong working knowledge of all accounting and financial control processes.
  4. Strong understanding of IFRS and UK tax requirements is a must.
  5. Excellent accounting background, with experience of acquisition accounting, intangible valuations, debt structures, consolidations, foreign currencies, share-based payments, business combinations, and R&D capitalisation.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organisation.
  8. High degree of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
