Job Title: Study Skills LecturerDepartment: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnershipsLocation: Leeds (On‑Site)Salary: £51,000Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) Job Overview We are seeking full‑time Study Skills Lecturers to collaborate closely with subject lecturers and develop study skills across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level within our BSU, UoS, and OBU partnerships. The role involves improving English language and numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy, and higher‑order research skills. Flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends is required. Note: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. What You’ll Be Doing Designing and documenting bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work to develop study skills in the curricula Delivering and evaluating teaching, identifying areas for improvement to enhance teaching quality and overall student experience in line with the GBS Learning and Teaching strategy Providing feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills Offering tutorial consultations with students, giving constructive feedback tailored to each student’s needs, explaining assessment criteria gaps, and suggesting ways to improve work and practice Recording details from these appointments for evaluation, quality purposes, and referring students to other services as appropriate Engaging with VLE and research resources to facilitate student learning through online activities Contributing to GBS quality assurance systems and processes About You Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable) Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area Proven track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes Demonstrated experience providing individual and group study‑skills support in response to identified learning needs Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, project and dissertation support, peer‑assisted learning) High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills Desirable Expertise in developing digital educational resources, course design and curriculum development DELTA qualification Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol in a teaching programme during probation and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent) What We Offer 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays 1‑day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days Workplace pension scheme Tuition reimbursement for career development courses Flexible benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and more Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and more Reward and recognition programme £500 award employee referral scheme Discretionary annual performance bonus GBS is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
