Job Title Specialist Occupational Therapist Location Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust – Benton house, Jesmond Employment type 1 × 12 months Fixed Term (Maternity Cover) Seniority level Entry level Job function Health Care Provider Mental Health Care Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Specialist Occupational Therapist within the Adult Community Treatment team based at Benton house, Jesmond. This role provides an excellent environment to practice core occupational therapy skills under supportive supervision, using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to structure assessments, 1:1 and group interventions. You will help people overcome barriers to meaningful activity, working on individual goals and enabling personal recovery. Responsibilities Practice fundamental OT skills in a supportive and supervised environment. Use MOHO to structure assessments and interventions in both 1:1 and group settings. Support patients in overcoming barriers to meaningful activity and work on individual goals. Manage a caseload of service users in line with the requirements of the Community Treatment team. Formulate, implement, review treatment and management plans for a full range of clinical presenting problems. Conduct thorough risk assessments, formulate safe and effective risk management plans, and document and communicate these clearly. Advocate the value of activity in patients’ recovery journeys and maintain an occupational focus within the multidisciplinary team. Ensure delivery of safe, evidence‑based, culturally competent care in a timely manner. Qualifications and skills Motivated, confident, friendly, and able to thrive in a busy, sometimes pressure‑led, multidisciplinary environment. Excellent risk assessment and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication and decision‑making abilities. Passion for developing OT practice, advocating for OT, and continual learning to improve recovery outcomes. Understanding of current policies and practice related to occupational therapy and MOHO.
