Job Title Sister/ Charge 7A Chemotherapy Day Unit (Band 6) Employer Barts Health NHS Trust Overview We have vacancies for Band 6 Nurses who are already experienced and chemotherapy competent. We are a nurse led service, providing chemotherapy, supportive therapies and apheresis to patients with Haemato‑Oncology and Solid Cancer. On our spacious Cancer Treatment Unit you will be able to rotate between the chemotherapy delivery area and supportive area. You will receive excellent training and development, and the opportunity to progress within your profession. We actively encourage our nurses and allied health professionals to take part in research projects and to work towards Masters and PhDs, providing dedicated support. Key Working Hours Day shifts, primarily Monday – Friday, with smaller numbers of patients treated at weekends. Posts available full‑time and part‑time. Key Responsibilities Provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter‑professional team. Act as a professional role model and clinical teacher; provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non‑nursing staff. Take charge of the Day Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and continuing responsibility. Perform the Clinic Nurse Role at times – coordinating all prescriptions, blood tests and confirmations in advance so that treatment production/dispensary occurs in a timely manner. Qualifications and Experience Completion of a SACT course. Band 6 Nursing role experience with chemotherapy competence. Training and Development You will receive excellent training and development, and the opportunity to progress within your profession. We actively encourage research participation and support for Masters and PhDs.
