Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician Band 4 to 5 progression The closing date is 18 December 2025 This post is offered as a Band 4 developmental position, with the opportunity to progress to Band 5 once the agreed competencies are met within a set time period following a successful appointment. Should you already meet the required competencies, this post can be offered at Band 5. North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) is seeking a Rotational Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician to join our innovative pharmacy team. This role will support the team, department, and organisation in achieving patient‑centred care. Main duties of the job NELFT provides a wide range of community and mental health services to a large population across Kent, Essex and North East London. We are looking for a highly motivated and high‑performing Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician to join this growing team. The role will provide patient‑facing clinical services across our inpatient wards and community teams. Starting with NELFT NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 per annum pro rata for part time). Person Specification Qualifications BTEC pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ Level 3 or GPhC accredited or equivalent Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Post qualification experience of ward‑based medicines optimisation in a multidisciplinary setting Experience of working as a Practice Supervisor Experience of staff supervision and management and appraisal Accreditation in Medicines Management (AIMM)/ Medicines Optimisation – or equivalent To be an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) or working towards it ACPT or equivalent Membership of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APTUK) and or The College of Mental Health Pharmacy (CMHP) Experience of working as an Educational supervisor Experience of writing and reviewing of policies and procedures Ability to carry out assessments and patient observations in key specialist clinical areas of competence and within scope of practice Willing to undertake Accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) programme Demonstration of Trust Values Demonstration of Trust Values Knowledge Experience of working with stock control software i.e., Well Sky /JAC An awareness of NHS priorities Knowledge of dispensing and electronic Patient Record System Understanding of CQC domains and compliance, in particular, aspects relating to patient engagement, experience and safety Experience Post qualification experience of ward‑based medicines optimisation in a multidisciplinary setting Experience of staff supervision and management and appraisal Experience in labelling, and dispensing proficiency To have at least 2 years post qualification experience within inpatients /Community setting Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
