Junior Platform EngineerDepartment: InfrastructureEmployment Type: PermanentLocation: LondonDescriptionAbout the Role:We are looking for a passionate and driven Junior DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our growing Platform Engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent Computer Science graduate who is eager to gain hands-on experience in infrastructure, CI/CD, automation, and modern cloud-native technologies.As a Junior Engineer, you will work alongside experienced DevOps and Platform Engineers to support, develop, and improve the core infrastructure that powers our trading applications and research pipelines. You will gain exposure to high performance compute systems, CI/CD workflows, observability tools, and scalable architecture practices.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and enhance infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions for provisioning and managing Linux servers with tools such as Ansible, Packer and Terraform.Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and secure software delivery.Collaborate with development teams to automate workflows and streamline deployments.Assist with monitoring, logging, and incident response for systems and services.Contribute to the documentation of systems, playbooks, and standard operating procedures.Troubleshoot and optimise data centre operations, addressing issues related to performance and hardware failures.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.Understanding of Linux fundamentals and system administration.Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).Basic understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.Eagerness to learn infrastructure technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Preferred Skills & KnowledgeBasic foundation in networking, DNS, security principles, and debugging tools.Exposure to CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).Awareness of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.Interest in observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).Personal Attributes:Clear communication – explains technical concepts concisely and effectivelyAdaptability – adjusts to new technologies and unexpected challengesAnalytical thinking – breaks down complex issues logically and methodicallyDecision-making – balances speed and accuracy when making technical decisionsCollaboration over competition – prioritises team success over individual winsAccountability – follows through on commitments and owns mistakesPatience – supports teammates as they learn or troubleshoot issuesOpen to feedback – accepts and applies suggestions for improvementGrowth mindset – always looks for ways to improve skills and workflowsProactiveness – takes initiative instead of waiting for instructionsWhy Join Us:A strong engineering culture that encourages experimentation and ownership.A supportive team that prioritises learning and mentorship.Access to cutting-edge tools and modern DevOps workflows.Opportunities to grow into more senior platform engineering roles. #J-18808-Ljbffr
