Company and Location Company: COLAS RAIL PLANT Location: Rugby, United Kingdom Country: United Kingdom Employment Details Type of Contract: Permanent Publication Date: 18 Nov 2025 Job Purpose To ensure that technical support to all maintenance staff of Colas Rail owned and contracted rail vehicles is effectively undertaken ensuring that safety, compliance, availability and reliability is upheld. Person Specification The job holder will have sound experience in rail vehicle engineering and maintenance, specifically On-Track Machines (OTM’s). Additionally, the job holder will have thorough knowledge of all current OTM maintenance tasks, Electrical, Electronic, Hydraulic and Pneumatic repairs, P-IC & SIFA fault finding, asset management systems and leading change. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of the rail operating environment, standards and safety procedures. The job holder will be a motivated self-starter, an able and clear communicator, dynamic and tenacious. The job holder will be cover the UK. Key Responsibilities Act as nationwide technical support Engineer, driving ownership, maintenance effectiveness and machine performance. Undertake planned and reactive modifications, repairs, fault finding, and provide technical support for rail vehicles and machinery. Liaise with Rugby-based maintenance team leaders ensuring that any advice, technical support, or drawings are understood. Collaboration with all departmental staff on matters relating to work arising, condition monitoring and issues that affect the reliability and availability of plant and machinery. Provide input to technical specifications and practices supporting maintenance, modification and use of rail vehicles. Provide input to the development of the engineering standards, maintenance processes and specifications for rail vehicles and assist with changes to the safety management system, engineering policy, certification and training/competency issues relating to rail vehicle maintenance and facilities. Support reliability and best practice initiatives through the business unit. Support internal and external audit regimes, processes and demonstrate prompt engagement to close out items raised. Monitor local plant performance through key performance indicators, assisting to identify fault trends and taking remedial action. Provide on-call technical support on rota basis. As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
