OverviewJoin to apply for the Team Leader (Roads) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.What you will doThe Team Leader is responsible for leading day to day operational matters associated with their teams; supports the Regional Director in leadership of people, projects, clients and business performance.Manage 35+ people in the Leeds office.Embed a strong client and project culture around a technically excellent and efficient delivery model, balanced with the need to satisfy client, staff and commercial expectations.Operate with moderate direct supervision from the Regional Director, taking appropriate action to meet business expectations.Provide operational support to the Regional Director and demonstrate leadership and operational management for efficient delivery.Lead teams to support the implementation of best practice and coordinate across the Group to share best practice and innovation.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Group by promoting a client and project centred culture; represent the business internally and externally as appropriate.Manage risk and opportunity through effective control and review measures.Contribute to maintaining key client relationships; support the Regional Growth Lead.Support bids by contributing to submissions to add value commercially and technically.Identify opportunities, develop capture strategies and plans; engage other teams to create winning proposals.Manage and lead teams in day to day operational matters; maintain workload overview and resource planning within technical capability.Support Quality/Health & Safety/Environment/Corporate within their teams; ensure compliance with SHEQ management systems.Promote UK-wide best practice (e.g., BMS, SHEQ) and ensure effective project reviews (technical and commercial).Interface with iCRC and promote its effective use within the region; support recruitment needs with the Regional Director.Manage extraordinary performance issues with team leaders; support career development and training in partnership with the Regional Director.Ensure implementation of commercial risk management controls, governance, reviews; assist with annual budget development and delivery.What we will be looking for you to demonstrateExcellent interpersonal skills with strong leadership and management abilities; effective communication across the business.Direct knowledge of technical project delivery activities is preferable.Strong stakeholder management, relationships and team management skills.Desire to improve, motivate, encourage others; leads and implements change; fosters an innovative and supportive culture.Broad project experience across discipline and multi-disciplinary work; strong coaching and knowledge-sharing abilities.Ability to build and sustain professional relationships; able to exceed client expectations.Logical problem solving, proactive handling of ambiguity, and ability to apply structured approaches.Imagine a better futureJoin our close-knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact.
