Senior Civil Engineer role at Progressive. This design-focused position supports the design and delivery of National Grid substation projects. Requires deep technical expertise in substation civil engineering and knowledge of National Grid standards and processes.ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver civil design packages for National Grid substation projects.Ensure designs comply with National Grid specifications, CDM regulations, and relevant British Standards.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and contractors.Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and documentation.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.Attend site visits and client meetings as required.Essential RequirementsProven experience working on National Grid substation projects.Strong background in civil and structural design, particularly for substations.Proficient in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro).In-depth knowledge of National Grid technical standards and procedures.Ability to work independently and manage multiple design packages.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.DesirableChartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).Experience with hybrid working and remote collaboration tools.Located within commuting distance of Stafford (preferred but not essential).Working ArrangementHybrid working preferred from the Stafford office.Remote candidates with strong National Grid experience will also be considered.Please click here to find out more about our Key Information Documents.
