This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to lead, influence, and make a lasting impact on how we manage electrical systems and safety.As our Senior Authorised Engineer, you will act as a delegated authority Electrical Duty Holder and provide strategic leadership across our MEICA operations. You’ll ensure compliance with statutory regulations, oversee high-voltage systems, and keep our people safe. This is a pivotal role in our transformation journey, where your expertise will help us deliver safe, reliable services to millions of customers.**What you will be responsible for:*** Own and lead all electrical safety responsibilities across Water Resources & Production.* Manage health and safety risks, particularly those associated with high-voltage systems.* Line manage a team of three technical experts in mechanical and electrical engineering, providing guidance and development.* Track and manage electrical risks—from quick fixes to major investment decisions.* Act as the technical escalation point for electrical safety issues.* Maintain and update our Electrical Safety Rule Book and competency frameworks.* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure best-in-class safety standards.**Additional Requirements:** Participation in incident support rotas may be required and will be discussed during the interview process.**What you’ll bring to the role:*****Essential**** Chartered Engineer status or MIECA membership* Extensive experience managing HV and LV systems in industrial environments* Strong leadership and coaching skills* Proven ability to manage electrical safety and compliance* Excellent risk management and stakeholder engagement skills***Desirable**** Experience in developing competency frameworks* Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards**About Southern Water**Southern Water is at the forefront of transforming Britain’s water industry, investing significantly to enhance resilience, sustainability, and service excellence.
