About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Protection Officer to join our Compliance team, with responsibility for data protection and privacy compliance. As Zilch’s DPO, you will be the primary point of contact with the ICO, ensuring full compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and other applicable privacy regulations. Day‑to‑day Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain Zilch’s privacy framework, policies and procedures. Act as Zilch’s principal contact for the ICO and other supervisory authorities. Collaborate with Legal to review, draft and negotiate privacy clauses, data processing agreements and international transfer documentation. Manage and respond to data subject rights requests, ICO complaints and data protection–related court cases. Provide expert advice on privacy aspects of marketing, digital advertising, cookies and electronic communications. Conduct privacy risk assessments, support privacy‑by‑design in new projects and maintain the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA). Work with Information Security to investigate personal data breaches and manage notifications. Design and deliver privacy and data protection training and promote awareness across the business. Monitor privacy risks, conduct internal audits and provide reports and recommendations. Track emerging data protection developments and advise the business on regulatory changes. What We’re Looking For A minimum of 5 years’ experience in privacy, data protection regulatory compliance roles. Legal background is highly desirable. Comprehensive knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and related laws. Proven ability to implement and lead privacy management programmes in regulated environments. Experience interacting with supervisory authorities, including the ICO. Experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy contracts. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT (or equivalent) are highly desirable. Excellent communication and influencing skills.
