OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a technical instructor at Hurst Place, a 15-bed male inpatient mental health rehabilitation unit based at Tameside hospital. Hurst Place is part of the Rehabilitation and High Support Care Hub, which is undergoing transformation to achieve excellence in patient care. To provide occupational activity to patients with severe mental illness currently receiving services in the unit. The Technical Instructor will work under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist to provide vocational and social skills to patients.ResponsibilitiesAutonomously plan and carry out specified group activities under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist.Work with service users to identify occupational goals within a treatment session as part of the overall occupational therapy care plan.Assist the qualified Occupational Therapist, as required, in the delivery of occupational therapy programmes on an individual and group basis.Participate in the assessment of patients under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions to ensure occupational goals are being achieved.Undertake occupational activity with patients that promotes recovery, is valued and increases independence.Work autonomously to undertake specific individual and group OT sessions as agreed with the qualified OT.Assist service users to develop and gain skills for everyday living, e.g. budgeting money, shopping, cooking, developing social networks, accessing local services, etc.Work as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical discussion and maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of all interventions.About us & BenefitsWe are proud to provide high quality mental health and learning disability services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester—Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside and Glossop. To work with appropriate service/clinical/professional guidelines in the development and delivery of both group and individual clinical interventions which engage clients in therapeutic activities.
