Introduction to the Division The VAT team delivers VAT, Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Personal Tax, Global Mobility and Employment Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients. We pride ourselves on professional, high‑quality service and a personal approach. Team members regularly contribute to transactional advisory work across diverse sectors, dealing with issues such as demergers, restructuring, acquisitions and disposals. Responsibilities Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of service and trust. Convert quick VAT questions into high‑value advisory projects. Manage client portfolio and WIP, ensuring commercial fee proposals and robust recoveries. Advise on a wide range of VAT matters, including expanding into new jurisdictions, VAT treatment of new income streams, HMRC dispute resolution, and more. Potentially manage a small team of direct reports, including performance appraisals. Support tender proposals, generate new advisory projects, conduct due diligence, provide specialist VAT input into audit work, and train staff on VAT matters. Review complex VAT returns such as those for partly‑exempt clients and non‑resident landlords. Person Specification Skills and Experience Proven VAT advisory experience in practice. Thorough understanding of key VAT principles. Ability to explain complex issues clearly to non‑VAT experts. Up‑to‑date technical VAT skills across a broad range of large corporate and owner‑managed business issues. Profit‑focused client portfolio management. Strong report writing, including due diligence. High attention to detail in reviewing documents and VAT law. Drafting clear, precise written advice. Excellent Word skills; Excel and PowerPoint valuable. Attributes Willingness to help colleagues and clients resolve issues. Tenacious, creative problem‑solver. Open to understanding others’ perspectives.
