Jacobs Manchester, England, United KingdomOverviewJoin to apply for the Senior Associate Director Overhead Lines (OHL) role at Jacobs.At Jacobs, we are solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments and mission-critical outcomes through engineering and project delivery across our Power & Energy portfolio, including high voltage AIS and GIS Substations, transmission system assets, HV Overhead Lines, HVDC interconnectors, and energy storage systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using software tools such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD and MicrostationManage and lead HV/EHV Overhead Line designs at all project stagesPrepare and review proposals and reports detailing project scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocationsEngage in client-facing design reviews and technical workshopsLead and mentor a team of specialist design engineers working on overhead transmission line solutionsIdentify and manage project risks to ensure successful deliveryPromote a strong safety cultureBuild and maintain relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and clients to drive project successEnsure all designs are reviewed and approved in line with best practice by appropriately qualified individualsCollaborate with the resource manager to expand the team and with the existing team to improve design processesWork with the wider team to ensure designs are sustainable and support environmental and planning aspectsAddress issues arising from construction teams and ensure drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for constructionWhat you'll needProven experience in OHL design (132kV–400kV), ideally within UK transmission and distribution environmentsDegree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical) or equivalentChartered Engineer (IET) or working towards chartershipWorking as CDAE and/or TP141 authorisationFamiliarity with National Grid and DNO standards and processesStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressureDemonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams and contribute to strategic project deliveryProficient in industry-standard software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, and AutoDesk toolsEmployment detailsEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Business Development and SalesIndustries: Civil Engineering, Design Services, and IT Services and IT ConsultingWe are a disability confident employer and welcome applications from candidates who may require flexible working.
