We also produce a comprehensive range of optical fibres, copper cables and connectivity systems for voice, video and data transmission for the telecommunications sector.Job RequirementsWe have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Design Engineer, to join our Power Grids Engineering Design Team, supporting the EGL1 project. Our Engineering Deisn Team is responsible for the design and installation of High Voltage Cable systems for a diverse range of clients.The Engineering Design Team forms part of our Power Grids Business, providing customers with a diverse range of services, from the supply of cable, to the provision of jointing services through to full turn-key installation projects.The successful individual will work on a large cross country HV Cable Installation project delivering an effective, safe, cost-efficient design solution.They will liaise closely with site engineers to ensure the project is delivered within time and to budget, to the required specification and with risks mitigated.Key Activities And ResponsibilitiesUnderstanding Customer Requirements and relevant National Grid specifications / standardsRisk assessment, mitigation & managementUnderstanding design requirements for installationCompiling Project Engineering Design Packs for Site TeamsChairing site design review meetings and coordinating the approvals processOn-going liaison with all teams throughout project - Attending regular site meetings, developing excellent communication channels and maximising collaboration to monitor progress and identify/resolve issuesDesign Document management & ControlManaging Change Management ProceduresDevelopment and tracking of design ProgrammeCollect and analyse As-Built DataThis is an interesting and diverse role which draws on aspects of mechanical, civil and electrical engineering.Skills And ExperienceApplications are welcome from qualified graduates in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related subject.Key Personal Attributes Will IncludeProject Design Management experienceExperience in cross country utilities projects would be an advantageRisk AnalysisDocument Management and KPI reportingKnowledge of National Grid design procedures would be an advantageHeld National Grid CDAE RoleA structured, systematic approach and good attention to detailExcellent written communication and presentation skillsTeam work – interfacing with a range of disciplinesAbility to see the overall picture –e.g.cost/options/compliance/practicality/customer awarenessThe job will involve a mix of office and site-based work.Full driving licence required.Prysmian , as an Equal Opportunity Employer, aims to attract and recruit individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.
