Senior Legal Counsel Overview Our client is Top 20 UK Law Firm who seek to recuit a Senior Legal Counsel to join their General Counsel team in Birmingham. You will be advising on complex regulatory and legal issues, including SRA regulation, data protection and anti-money laundering, sanctions, and compliance obligations. Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies. Provide sound legal advice and guidance to various departments on commercial matters, risk management, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and resolve legal issues efficiently. Manage and mitigate legal risks by proactively identifying potential legal challenges. Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and communicate their impact to the business. Work closely with external legal advisors when necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. Contribute to developing and implementing legal strategies that support company growth and ethical standards. Qualifications Qualified Solicitor with relevant legal experience, preferably in an in‑house commercial legal counsel role. Strong experience and expertise in commercial contracts, negotiation, and contract management. Excellent knowledge of UK corporate, commercial, and contract law. Proven ability to work confidently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to explain complex legal matters clearly. Proactive mindset with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in the workplace. Day‑to‑day Providing timely legal support and advice on commercial issues. Reviewing contracts and agreements to ensure legal compliance and protect company interests. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide tailored legal solutions. Keeping abreast of legal developments relevant to the company's operations. Participating in team meetings, training, and continuous professional development activities. Supporting the legal team in managing workload and prioritising tasks effectively.
