We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businesses can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.CNC Machinist / ProgrammerWe currently have a vacancy for an experienced CNC machinist to work at our site in Great Baddow, Chelmsford.As a CNC machinist within our manufacturing centre, you will be instrumental in assisting with the delivery of innovative research projects to quality, time and budget. Liaising with engineering and technical staff within the BAE Systems’ Digital Intelligence Laboratories (DI Labs), this role will provide you with the chance to become involved in challenging activities within a friendly and dynamic environment.ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities as a CNC Machinist will involve:You will be required to manufacture small batch / prototype and production components ranging from highly accurate aerospace components through to lab use demonstrator items within time and budget.The successful applicant will need to be able to programme, set and run 3 axis CNC milling machines using CADCAM software and also via the machine control. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the desire to advance to 5 axis programming and setting in the future.Also required is the ability to operate manual milling machines and lathes.The successful applicant will need to be able to work on their own initiative and demonstrate a flexible working attitude as part of this interesting role.Ensure that all manufacturing activities are undertaken in line with AI Labs process and SHE requirements.EssentialYour skills and qualifications as a CNC machinist:Experienced CNC milling machinist3D CADCAM programming experienceAble to programme, set and operate different machine tools, as well as operate manual milling machines and lathesQualified to NVQ Level 3 Engineering (or equivalent) or higherApprentice trainedDesirableExperience of working closely with designers and engineers to assist with the DFM attributes of new hardware design.Experience of aerospace component manufacture, first article inspection reports etc.What We're Looking For In YouYou will have strong problem-solving skills. You will also possess excellent communication skills to effectively articulate technical information to a variety of engineers and customers.
