An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 1 at Berwick – a 10‑bed forward‑thinking Care of the Elderly Ward specialising in rehabilitation. The role is fully rotational, covering day & night duty, seven days a week including bank holidays. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic nursing team delivering all aspects of care to patients. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, but not essential. Main duties of the job Provide nursing care to a caseload of patients and give verbal and written handovers to nursing colleagues and the multidisciplinary team. When responsible for the ward/department, ensure that individualised programmes of care are formulated and carried out fully for each patient (up to 30 patients in a ward area). Organise and coordinate nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff. Exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Maintain all nursing care standards and high clinical standards. Role‑model compassionate and inclusive leadership, engaging, enabling and empowering others, using coaching to promote learning and quality improvement, and facilitating team working across departmental boundaries. Person Specification Essential Qualifications 1st Level: NMC registered Nurse Evidence of qualification to undertake supervision, teaching and assessment of students (should be completed within 18 months). Desirable PP126/7 D32/33 Post‑Registration qualification in a specialty Diploma/degree in nursing Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools Knowledge of or experience in quality improvement tools, techniques and methods Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
