Housing Officer (2 year fixed term) – Harlow District Council Essex County Council is recruiting a Housing Officer for a two‑year fixed‑term contract. Location: Harlow, Essex. Employment type: Full‑time. Closing date: 26th November 2025. Responsibilities Deal with breaches of tenancy conditions. Respond to reports of anti‑social behaviour, working with partner agencies to take effective action. Carry out tenancy audits and address any issues arising. Manage tenancy‑related issues including successions, assignments, and estate incidents in accordance with housing law and council policies. Assist residents with tenancy and lease enquiries and provide support. Engage with customers and encourage their involvement in decisions relating to the Housing Service. Ensure service standards are achieved and high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained. Maintain knowledge of housing management, housing legislation and statutory responsibilities. Qualifications and Experience Good working knowledge of housing management; experience in social housing or the voluntary sector is advantageous. Qualification in housing or a related subject preferred. Understanding of current Housing Legislation and landlord‑tenant working. Good knowledge of statutory responsibilities and equality issues in service delivery. Excellent people skills, effective communication at all levels, proactive and solution‑focused problem‑solving. Strong administrative and IT skills, able to work in a pressurised, customer‑focused environment. Availability to work or attend meetings outside normal working hours. Valid driving licence and access to vehicle or other satisfactory means of transport.
