Site Engineer – Sizewell C (SZC)

Location: Sizewell, Suffolk

About the Role

Carmichael UK are seeking a Site Engineer to join a major civil engineering project at Sizewell C. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s largest infrastructure developments while gaining invaluable experience in earthworks, drainage, and utilities.

We’re looking for motivated engineers with at least a year of civil engineering experience who are keen to develop their technical and practical skills within a large, multi-disciplinary environment. You’ll receive on-site support and mentoring to progress toward becoming a fully proficient engineer on complex heavy civil projects.

Key Responsibilities

Set out and survey works using Trimble GNSS systems for earthworks, drainage, and utilities

Review and interpret 3D models for machine control, ensuring alignment with design specifications

Produce accurate drawings and updates using AutoCAD

Assist with drainage and utilities installation, ensuring compliance with design tolerances and standards

Prepare site documentation including Plans, RAMS, and QA records

Conduct site-based materials testing, including soil moisture and stabilisation checks

Support short-term planning and lookahead programmes to aid site delivery

Liaise with the Commercial and Design teams, identifying potential changes or site events

Provide input on temporary works and constructability for earthworks and underground services

Mentor junior engineers and apprentices as part of the site engineering team

About You

Essential:

Minimum 1 year’s experience in civil engineering, including exposure to drainage and utilities works

Experience with Trimble GPS systems and AutoCAD

Eligible for graduate membership with the ICE and working towards IEng

Full right to work in the UK

Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

Working towards CEng status
