Software Engineering Coach: Flexible (PostgreSQL, React Native, more) Join Skiller Whale as Software Engineering Coach and lead micro‑workshops remotely via our Skiller Whale platform. We seek experienced lead engineers who can bring expertise and enthusiasm to senior and junior engineers alike, ensuring they leave with a deep understanding and the ability to apply new skills. Role Summary Lead 60‑90 minute remote workshops for small groups, using high‑quality teaching material produced by Skiller Whale. Sessions are scheduled weekly or every two weeks, and you will spend 1.5–6 hours per week depending on your availability. Key Responsibilities Deliver clear and concise explanations in spoken and written English. Answer complex questions, provide live debugging and real‑time feedback. Teach senior and junior engineers, ensuring a deep understanding of the topic. Adapt your teaching style to match the level of your audience. Skills & Knowledge Preferred expertise: PostgreSQL, React Native, or Leadership, Communication, and Management in software teams. Additional desirable expertise (two or more): Common languages/frameworks (Go, React, Kotlin, Java, etc.) Platforms, tools, or databases (AWS, Docker, PostgreSQL) Test‑Driven Development REST API Design Leadership, Communication, and Management (software teams) Qualifications Expert spoken and written English, clear pronunciation for non‑native speakers. Experience in industry with extensive real‑world knowledge. Ability to teach, mentor, or pair with developers, especially senior engineers. Comfort with live debugging and rapid code evaluation. Personable, passionate, and professional demeanor. Bonus: Experience with multiple languages/frameworks/tools. Benefits Rate: £100 per hour, plus £50 for preparation per new module taught. Very flexible work – schedule sessions to fit your availability. Fully remote, forever. Make a real impact on learners; sessions have a 4.8/5 average rating. Teaching is fun Working Hours & Platform Most coaches lead between 1 and 4 sessions per week (1.5–6 hours). All teaching is done through the Skiller Whale platform, which includes video conferencing and other tooling. Minimal preparation time is required; we provide written content and exercises.
