This is an exciting opportunity for band 5 Staff Nurses to join our forward‑thinking nursing team on Ward 3 in Glanrhyd Hospital. The hospital supports patients' rehabilitation needs and complex discharge planning. Ward 3 is a 10‑beded ward, with a mixture of medical patients. Glanrhyd Hospital is continually expanding its services and we require staff nurses who have the ambition to help drive these changes and expand the service we offer. Commitment to ongoing training and development is essential. We offer ward‑based training so you should be motivated, keen to learn and ready to embrace change. Knowing that you’re making a difference to people’s lives is rewarding, but our role offers much more than that. As well as helping you grow and develop your talent, we want you to feel proud of where you work and what you do. Responsibilities Manage a group of patients and occasionally take charge of the ward/department and its resources for the duration of your duty. Maintain high standards of patient care. Ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to. Support and supervise junior staff. Maintain accurate, current, comprehensive and concise records concerning the condition of the client, in accordance with NMC Standards for Record & Record Keeping and the UHB's Patient Record Policy. Liaise with the appropriate Clinical Specialists (Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists) in relation to individual patient requirements and planned programmes of care. Welsh Language Proficiency This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. It does not mean essential; we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. We are looking for Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above—basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Equal Opportunities and Visa CTM is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcomes applications from individuals within protected groups as outlined in the Equality Act 2010, including age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/reassignment, race/nationality, religion/belief, disability, pregnancy and maternity, and marriage and civil partnership. We also warmly welcome applications from members of the Armed Forces community. Applicants who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals will require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care Visa or a Skilled Worker Visa unless they already hold permission to work via another route. We reserve the right to close a vacancy early or withdraw an advertisement to accommodate the redeployment of internal staff into suitable roles. Benefits Leading pension scheme Generous leave Flexible working arrangements Career growth opportunities Access to ongoing learning and development Living Wage Employer status Location Located in the heart of South Wales, Glanrhyd Hospital serves the communities of Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. The hospital is part of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, one of Wales’s largest NHS employers with over 13,500 staff.
