Quality Assurance Team Lead Appian QA Lead in Solihull, UK. Type: Permanent. Appian QA Lead in Solihull will own end-to-end quality assurance across Appian-based digital process automation projects. You’ll lead a QA team to ensure delivery of defect‑free, performant, and secure solutions. Key Responsibilities Define and maintain QA approach and roadmaps for Appian development efforts (manual, integration, regression, performance, security). Estimate QA workloads, schedule test phases, and manage resourcing and tool usage. Test Management & Execution Lead the creation and execution of high-quality test cases and scenarios, including black‑box, gray‑box, white‑box, and automation where appropriate. Validate Appian application functionality, workflow integrity, integrations, mobile/web performance, and security. Automation & CI/CD Integration Guide test automation strategy—leveraging Java, Python, Selenium, or Appian-specific frameworks. Integrate QA activities into CI/CD pipelines and ensure consistent quality validation. Release Management Coordination Collaborate with Appian Release/Environment Leads to coordinate QA signoff and environment promotion. Defect & Quality Oversight Manage defect life cycles: identify, document, prioritize, and track through resolution. Conduct root cause analysis, drive process improvement, and document lessons learned. Mentor and coach QA Analysts and Engineers, enabling best practices, effective test design, and engagement with Agile teams. Oversee QA work allocation and resource planning. Stakeholder Communication Serve as liaison between QA, Dev, Product, and Delivery teams—providing updates via dashboards and defect metrics. Participate in sprint planning, release retrospectives, and strategic QA discussions. Required Skills & Experience Technical Strong experience with Appian platform—functional testing, integrations, and workflows. Proficiency in test automation frameworks (e.g., Java, Python, Selenium). Solid understanding of STLC and Agile methodologies. Experience with performance, regression, and security testing within complex solution environments. Domain Previous experience in large‑scale enterprise Appian implementations and release practices. Prior QA leadership experience, mentoring junior staff and managing test teams. Excellent stakeholder management, able to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical teams. Soft Skills Strong analytical, problem‑solving skills, and detail orientation. Effective multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast‑paced, Agile UK environment. Nice to Have QA certifications (ISTQB, CSTE, CQA). Experience with Appian low‑code development beyond QA scope. Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and Appian deployment pipelines. Location & Context This is a Solihull-based position, typically requiring hybrid or full‑time on‑site presence to coordinate with development and release teams. Reporting to the Appian Delivery/Technical Lead, working alongside Release Engineers and Scrum teams to support enterprise QA processes.
