We are recruiting a full-time, permanent, Band 7 Audiologist or Clinical Scientist to lead our Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation service. We are proud of our welcoming, friendly team and the service we deliver.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for an experienced Audiologist to lead our vestibular testing and rehabilitation service, and line manage a team of Audiologists involved in this service. You will be able to fully utilise their excellent experience in routine adult assessment and rehabilitation, or paediatric assessment and be eligible for AHCS (RCCP) or HCPC registration. Opportunities are available in other areas of Audiology including complex adults, tinnitus management and paediatrics. We believe we can offer support to all of our staff when they need it the most.Job responsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:Independent clinical testing, decision making and reporting for vestibular assessment and rehabilitation patients.Independent clinical testing, decision making and reporting for adult assessment and rehabilitation patients including fitting and verifying hearing aids, and appropriate onward referral.Opportunities are available in Paediatric Audiology services if desired.Day to day management of relevant clinical and administrative functions of the Portsmouth Audiology Service, ensuring the Audiology service maintains the highest possible standards of care, and clinical and management decisions are effectively communicated throughout the audiology service.Overall patient management including liaison with other professions including ENT, AVM, paediatrics, health visitors, GPs, Education and Social Services.You will be looking for a Trust that will enable you to grow and assist more junior members of the team; we are also a busy training department so this role will involve supervision of students on the STP and HTS. There are opportunities to be involved with service review and development and we would be delighted to showcase these opportunities and show you around our department.The department provides a wide variety of Audiology services. We cover a large geographical area with clinics in Hampshire, western West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. Applications for part-time hours will be considered.Informal enquiries are welcome by contacting Miriam Forster, Miriam.Forster@nhs.netFor full details of this role, please refer to the enclosed Job Description.Person SpecificationQualificationsSTP, or M.Sc. in Clinical Audiological Science and Certificate of Audiological Competence, or BAAT or PTP or BSc in Audiology.Clinical skills and management to appropriate standard of independent practice as supported by or working towards State Registration.ExperienceVestibular testing with adults.Vestibular rehabilitation.Adult hearing assessment and management.Communication with multidisciplinary teams ensuring effective patient management.Staff management and leadershipService monitoring and developmentTraining and supporting junior staff including trainees on registered courses.Skills and KnowledgeRelevant practical knowledge and experience.
