Senior Clinical Fellow: Obstetrics

Job Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at the West Middlesex Site of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We wish to appoint a suitably trained and experienced doctor with NHS experience at ST3‑7 level as a Senior Clinical Fellow to work as a Senior Registrar with a special interest in any of the following: Benign abdominal surgery – open and laparoscopic, maternal medicine and obstetric research, medical education with quality improvement in postnatal and bereavement care, outpatient hysteroscopy and ambulatory gynaecology. The successful candidate will carry out clinical duties within all areas of the obstetrics and gynaecology department and will also be expected to contribute to the SpR on‑call rota and receive support from an educational supervisor. They will be invited to apply as soon as possible with a proposed start date in early 2026. The successful candidate should be registered with the GMC and have relevant NHS experience to work at the level of ST3‑7 within a busy obstetrics and gynaecology unit. Responsibilities Carry out clinical duties across all divisions of obstetrics and gynaecology, including inpatient, day‑case and elective surgery. Perform elective obstetric procedures and general gynaecological surgery, including day‑case and inpatient elective surgery. See patients under consultant supervision in outpatient clinics such as one‑stop scan clinics, specialist gynaecology clinics and the early pregnancy/acute gynaecology unit. Complete intermediate gynaecology ultrasound scanning and hysteroscopy modules. Undertake clinical audits and quality improvement projects (QIP) under consultant supervision. Receive training through the Chelsea Centre for Minimally Invasive Gynaecology, including global training and tuition in endoscopic surgery. Cover on‑call duties on the three‑tier rota with a 1:8 on‑out‑of‑hours call frequency for obstetrics and gynaecology, sharing coverage with Specialty Trainees ST3‑5 and ST2‑5. Participate in the development and delivery of teaching, research and quality improvement activities within the department. Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites. Employment is subject to a six‑month probationary period.
