The role will report to the Training Technology Manager providing day-to-day oversight and leadership of development activities.Local oversight of the team’s development projects.Planning and allocation of tasks and resources.Ensure development tasks and projects are on track and delivering high-quality results.Providing subject matter expertise and mentoring to develop products and the team’s overall skills.Problem solving issues when required and negotiating the best way forward.Responsibilities include researching, designing, writing, and maintaining software applications used in the training environment. You will take responsibility for the end-to-end product from building the back-end code and server structure to the front-end graphical user interface. You will contribute to logistically deploying the software and training users to operate the tools. You will work with stakeholders across a matrix organisation including Instructors, Training Developers, IT Support, and Navy staff.You will develop and employ skills across a broad range of software, multimedia, training and IT security disciplines, including storyboarding, coding, graphic design, video, audio, 3D modelling, gamification, and any other relevant skills you can contribute. The primary environment you will be developing in is with the Unity game engine.Software Developers are expected to develop a working understanding of learning concepts and submarine subjects to help interpret training requirements and how to integrate these into technology applications.Essential Qualifications:Bachelor Degree in a discipline relevant to software and multimedia developmentUnity Technologies certification, or 5 years of experience developing Unity applications in a teamCert IV in Project Management or higher, or 2 years of experience in project managementRelevant professional development in leadership/supervisionEssential skills and knowledge:Communication skills with team members, stakeholdersProficient with Adobe Creative suiteKnowledge of User Experience principlesExperience with the Unity game engine, 3D modelling and animationOther relevant certifications in software, technologies, design, training and assessmentKnowledge and understanding of adult learning principlesThis role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a Baseline/NV1/NV2 level.
