The research focuses on cortical hyperexcitability and aberrant visual perceptions. Location: Bailrigg, Lancaster, UKSalary: £39,906 to £48,882 (Full time, indefinite with end date)Closing Date: Wednesday 26 November 2025Interview Date: Wednesday 10 December 2025Reference: 0863-25 The role involves designing, programming, and conducting computer‑based experiments to assess cortical excitability in observers, and applying multi‑channel transcranial direct‑current brain stimulation (MtDCS) across studies. The candidate will administer trait‑based measures of susceptibility to aberrant perceptions and is responsible for recruiting participants, developing experimental designs, data analysis, dissemination (presentations and journal articles), and impact activities. You Will Have programming skills for running computer‑based experiments. Be able to administer brain‑stimulation montages to participants in line with safety and ethical guidelines. Collect and analyse (Frequentist, Bayes, mixed‑effects) all forms of data gathered, with experience in contemporary packages (R‑Studio). Have skills in experimental and analytical design. Write up research findings for publication and presentations. Work independently toward successful project completion. The Psychology Department is a busy teaching and research active department with around 40 academic staff, research and professional services, and technical staff.
