About the Role
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join their Fostering and Assessment Team.
You'll be part of a skilled and supportive service that plays a vital role in recruiting, assessing, and supporting foster carers who provide safe, nurturing homes for children and young people.
This role focuses primarily on Form F Assessments, but you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to recruitment and supervision work as needed.
You will typically manage three assessments at a time, averaging around three visits per week, though this can vary depending on workload and complexity.
You'll work closely with a highly experienced team, including two Advanced Practitioners, within a collaborative environment that values reflection, quality, and child-centred practice.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake Form F Assessments of prospective foster carers to high professional standards.
Contribute to foster carer recruitment, including participation in visits and information sessions.
Support and supervise foster carers to ensure the delivery of safe, consistent, and high-quality placements.
Prepare clear, analytical, and evidence-based assessment reports for fostering panels.
Work in partnership with children, families, and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in line with SMBC procedures.
Participate in team meetings, reflective supervision, and service development discussions.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, Degree in Social Work, or equivalent).
Current registration with Social Work England.
Proven experience within fostering, assessment, or family placement
Strong understanding of fostering legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and care planning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage your own caseload, and meet deadlines.
