Our acturial consultants advise clients on defined benefit pension schemes, handling financial and operational risks today and in the future.As an Aon Industrial Placement, you’ll work alongside leaders in the industry, earning as you learn and building your career as an Actuary. The work evolves with markets and legislation, and Aon supports you to gain the skills required to be a successful actuarial consultant across a diverse range of topics.Your role as an Actuarial Industrial Placement in Wealth Solutions: RetirementAs an Industrial Placement, no two days are the same. You’ll work on client teams providing advice and support to trustees or the companies that sponsor pension schemes. Our aim is for you to progress into a trusted advisor for your clients as soon as possible, developing technical and consulting skills including key calculations, communication, project management and networking. You’ll continually improve commercial awareness and professionalism to grow into a successful actuarial consultant.What Your Day Could Look LikeActuarial and Analytical Tasks:Regular assessment of the financial position of pension schemesIdentifying and implementing ways to reduce risks for trustees and companies (e.g., longevity, investment, inflation)Carrying out calculations for the pension scheme in the company’s financial accounts and for individual members’ benefitsEstimating Pension Protection Fund leviesClient Focused Tasks, Such AsDay-to-day management of the pension scheme and internal projectsBuilding and managing relationships with clients and other stakeholdersAttending and presenting at client meetingsYou’ll work on a range of projects and may be involved in specialist teams (e.g., Risk Settlement, Member Options, Demographic Horizons) across areas such as:Risk Settlement: advising on risk transfer strategiesMember Options: helping members reshape benefits to suit circumstancesAnalysis of mortality and demographic factors to predict future trendsYour DevelopmentAs an Aon Industrial Placement, you will be enrolled on our Launch Programme with three core elements: Business learning: on-the-job experiences developing knowledge of your team and solution lineCentralised learning: induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops to build knowledge, confidence and networkFeedback: regular discussions with your line manager to set goals and receive support over the 12-month programmeYour career beyond your Industrial Placement programmeThe placement is designed as a potential first step toward a long-term career with Aon. Performance may lead to an offer for our graduate programme in the same business unit the following year.
