The Team Manager leads, manages, and directs at a Children’s Trust social care team for children and young people, including statutory child protection and regulated adoption and fostering services. This role ensures that all children under the responsibility of the relevant area team or centrally based service are safeguarded and supported to achieve positive outcomes. Your Role as Team Manager: Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of children’s social care teams, including qualified social workers and family support staff. Allocate work, prioritise caseloads, and make case-related decisions in line with delegated authority. Deliver statutory responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need, those looked after, and those at risk of significant harm. Recruit, supervise, appraise, and develop staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality services. Manage budgets effectively, monitoring expenditure and informing future planning. Develop and maintain strong multi-agency partnerships to ensure effective risk assessment, early intervention, and smooth transitions for families. Create and implement team plans aligned with service objectives and performance targets. Drive service improvements through audits, quality assurance, data management, and timely resolution of complaints. Ensure compliance with equality, health and safety, and safeguarding policies. Represent the service on internal and external projects and deputise for your line manager when required. Your Previous Experience as Team Manager: To be successful in this role, you’ll need: Significant (5 years) post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, including safeguarding and child protection. Proven leadership and management skills within a statutory social care setting. Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation. Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Excellent communication, analytical, and partnership-building skills. SWE registration and commitment to continuous professional development.
