This role offers the opportunity contribute to the expansion of specialist services following the recent commissioning of the national pectus service; and supporting the lung cancer and lung volume reduction surgical pathways.We are seeking an individual with a strong clinical background and deep understanding of thoracic patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing nursing expertise across various clinical settings, including outpatients while supporting patients and their families from through treatment and follow up.The ideal candidate will have exceptional organisational skills, the confidence in working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels and across professional groups, and the ability to work independently. The clinical nurse specialist role provides a great opportunity to manage a patient caseload while also contributing to service development, education, quality improvement, audits and research projects.Main duties of the jobThe Thoracic Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) plays a crucial role within the multi professional team, serving as an expert practitioner who delivers high quality, patient centred care to patients undergoing thoracic surgery in the Thorax Centre, St.Bartholomew's Hospital.This role involves providing clinical care in line with nationalstandards and the post holder will play an active part in service development, quality and safety initiatives, audit and research. The post holder will manage a patient case load, providing specialist support across the pre and post operative patient pathways.The CNS will work to enhance the experiences of the patient, their family, or carers by offering expert support and coordinating care throughout the patients' journey.
