The preconstruction division is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the growing M&E design team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of electrical building services for a variety of projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with regulations, and alignment with client expectations.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading electrical design from concept through to completion, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting the commercial and project delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the design and development of electrical systems for building services projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.

* Produce high-quality electrical designs, drawings, schematics, specifications, and calculations in line with industry standards and client requirements.

* Ensure designs comply with current legislation, standards, and best practice (e.g., BS 7671, CIBSE, Building Regulations, BREEAM).

* Conduct load assessments, lighting design, power distribution layouts, fire alarm, security, containment, and other specialist system designs.

* Carry out site surveys, inspections, and design validation activities.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, architects, consultants, and clients.

* Support tendering and estimating teams with design input and technical support.

* Mentor and support junior engineers and CAD/Revit technicians.

* Contribute to value engineering exercises, innovation, and sustainable design initiatives.

* Attend client and design team meetings, providing technical input and representing the company professionally.

* Oversee the coordination of designs with Revit/BIM models.

Key Requirements:

Essential:

* Extensive experience in electrical building services design.

* Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

* Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

* Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD, Revit MEP).

* Proven experience working on a range of building types and sectors.

* Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

Desirable:

* Experience with sustainable design and low-carbon technologies.

* Knowledge of BIM Level 2 standards.

* Previous experience within a design & build contractor environment
