Responsibilities Assist medical personnel with patient care, including treatment, preventive care, screening and patient education. Perform nursing and administrative duties as directed by the partners. Carry out routine clinical tasks: blood pressure checks, NHS health checks, urinalysis, learning disability checks, restocking rooms, diabetes foot assessments (training provided), ECG measurement, B12 injections, and phlebotomy. Maintain infection control processes and participate in audits. Use computer and keyboard skills for record keeping, emails and internal communications. Organise and prioritise a varied workload effectively. Support the team and ensure a safe, high‑quality level of care. Act professionally at all times, adhering to practice policies, protocols and guidelines. Qualifications Essential: Prior experience working in a GP surgery as an HCA. Essential: Experience delivering phlebotomy services. Essential: Confidence using PCs for record keeping, e‑mail and internal communications. Essential: Knowledge of confidentiality and NHS procedures. Essential: High level of verbal and written English. Essential: Ability to work in an inclusive, non‑discriminatory environment. Essential: Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training. Desirable: NVQ/BTEC in Health and Social Care or comparable qualification. Desirable: Knowledge of GP services, working processes and local health services. Person Specification Experience working in a GP surgery as an HCA (essential). About Us We are a close‑knit team of approximately 21 staff (5 GPs, 2 nurses, 2 HCAs, and administrative support). We serve around 6,500 patients and are centrally located in Kemptown, Brighton, within walking distance of the train station and bus stops.
