Head Chef

What does the job role involve?Are you seeking an opportunity to make a positive impact in your local community?Do you enjoy cooking and have experience in managing a kitchen?Are you able to work alongside residents in a Care Home to cater for their meals?To co-ordinate all aspects of the kitchen so that food is prepared to the agreed standard and that time deadlines are met.The role includes but is not limited to:To implement and supervise all aspects of kitchen control e.g. menus, hygiene, health and safety, staff, cleaning and waste control.To identify and recruit all grades of staff under your control within the agreed guidelines.To supervise and develop staffTo order catering consumablesTo have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P, to ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation are completed and sighed are by the appropriate members of staffTo complete monthly audits for kitchen reporting any finding to home managerTo prepare menus for the nursing home taking into account the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, inline with agreed budget.To consult with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are being met.To prepare special diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff.To maintain the agreed stock levels of food.To implement and maintain an agreed deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen.To carry out stock takes at the end of each month.To implement four weekly rota.To work within agreed budget guidelinesTo assist in the preparation of function menus and costing.To co-operate with requests from the Home Manager and residents wherever possible.To attend resident/relative meetings whenever possible.To carry out staff supervision adhering to home policies.To complete all staff personal development reviewsAny ad hoc duties to meet service delivery for our residents and home.What makes a successful candidate:Must have previous Head Chef experienceSimiar environment would be a advantageExperience of managing a teamKnowledge in planning balanced menu’sAble to cater for specific dietary needsGood communication skillsBe able to follow and prioritise tasks and responsibilitiesEngage well with people we support in their continuing interests and supporting positive experiencesAble to work well as part of a team and independentlyWhat can we offer you in return for your hardwork and commitment?Full time contract36 hours per week, including weekend workPay rate: £16 per hour28 Days Annual Leave including bank holidays (pro rata for part time contracts)Life insuranceFree DBS (T&C's apply)Free or discounted mealsFree parkingCompany pensionWagestream – Same-day payOur employee assist programme – healthcare and mental health supportFree in house training via our elearning platform, your Hippo, in addition to our fully funded apprenticeship courses.Yearly salary reviewBeing part of an organisation where empowering and valuing our people is fundamental to everything we doPlease Note: Aurem Care is not a sponsoring organisation.
