Job SummaryLead Clinical Pharmacist - Acute and Emergency MedicineDivision: Cancer & Core Clinical ServicesCare Group: Diagnostics and TherapiesBand: 8bSalary: £64,455 - £74,896 per annum/pro rataInterview Date: 18th December 2025About the roleWe are recruiting for a Lead Clinical Pharmacist who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward.You will be a core member of the Trust's pharmacy department, providing professional pharmaceutical governance, medicines safety, medicines information, medicines finance, education and training and medicines optimisation support to the team.You will build relationships and work with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the delivery of high quality pharmaceutical care to patients.Our values are Bold, Every Person Counts, Sharing and Open and Together.We are committed to endorsing diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion; our policies/procedures ensure that all applicants are treated fairly at every stage of the recruitment process.To contribute to our exciting future and become part of our team, apply today.Job ResponsibilitiesLead the provision of specialist clinical pharmaceutical services to staff and patients to achieve high quality, safe, cost effective and evidence-based prescribing.Provide pharmaceutical professional support, legal and ethical guidance and advice to all clinical and non-clinical staff to raise and maintain standards of practice.Attend and contribute to regular multidisciplinary team meetings (face to face or virtual clinics) where patients are reviewed.Prescribe medication for individual patients within the agreed scope of practice and competence, and according to Medway NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures.Liaise and work in partnership with external health professionals and stakeholders across the integrated care system (ICS) in the management of virtual ward patients.Develop and deliver training and education to ensure staff are delivering high quality and evidence-based care when using medicines.Develop and maintain policies and standard operating procedures for the service that are evidence-based and comply with legal and current guidance.Lead on the governance of medicines for the service including audit of policies and management of medicines incidents.Manage the collection of data to respond to pharmacy/medicine Key Performance Indicators relating to surgical services and write regular reports as part of a program of audit/service evaluation.Support the transfer of care of patients discharged from the surgical services, ensuring a high standard of information provision concerning medicines.Facilitate and undertake research to inform practice developments and underpin delivery of an effective, evidence-based pharmacy service.QualificationsEssentialMaster's degree in pharmacy or equivalentHigher degree/Diploma in clinical pharmacyRegistration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)DesirableIndependent prescribing qualificationKnowledgeEssentialKnowledge of and ability to apply all aspects of regulatory legislation and guidelinesSpecialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice, or demonstration of an ability to develop highly specialised knowledge in a therapeutic areaExpert clinical knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice, or demonstrated ability to do soExperienceEssentialPrevious relevant specialist clinical experienceExperience of working with senior healthcare professions outside of pharmacy at a senior levelExperience of monitoring drug use and expenditureSkillsEssentialAdvanced IT skills – including Word, Excel, email and PowerPointAble to solve difficult and ambiguous problems by advanced reasoning and sound technical judgmentDemonstrable empowering and collaborative leadership skillsValues Based QuestionGive an example of a time when you have gone the extra mile to help someone.Emergency and Prof DisclosureThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a disclosure check will be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.Additional InformationApplications from job seekers who require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications.
