Senior Support Worker (Theatres) The closing date is 15 December 2025 Permanent | Full or Part Time hours available Make a Difference in Children's Lives - Join Our Theatres Team as a Senior Support Worker We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our busy 24/7 Paediatric Theatre Centre, a specialist unit delivering high-quality care to children and young people locally, nationally and internationally. In this vital role, you'll support Registered Nurses and ODPs in providing safe, effective care in theatre. Duties include assisting with patient assessments, supporting care planning, mentoring junior staff, maintaining a safe and clean environment, managing equipment and admin tasks, and offering emotional support to patients and families. About You: GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A‑C) or Level 2 Functional Skills Experience working in a multidisciplinary team Experience in a care environment If you're a team player with a passion for paediatric care and a desire to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you. Main duties of the job Reporting into the Theatre Manager, your responsibilities will include: Help with patient assessments and contribute to care planning. Help deliver care to children in the theatre and support anaesthetised patients. Maintain patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality. Support and train junior theatre colleagues Manage administrative tasks, including patient records and communication with the theatre supply team. Ensure a clean and safe environment in the theatre and clinical areas, maintaining infection control standards. Order and maintain clinical supplies, working with the theatre supply team. Provide emotional support to patients and families in difficult situations. Maintain equipment, stock, and a safe clinical environment. Person Specification Qualifications GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A‑C) Level 2 functional skills equivalent SCH Band 2 or 3 in house competency package Care certificate Level 3 Vocational Health Diploma Experience Experience of a multidisciplinary team environment Some knowledge and skills in a care environment Worked in healthcare/social care environment Knowledge Knowledge of health and safety in a healthcare environment Knowledge of principles of infection control. Basic IT skills, which include competency at using word and email. Ability to work alongside qualified staff caring for children and young people requiring surgical procedures Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team delivering direct patient care An ability to show initiative and take on own responsibilities and accountability An ability to prioritise workloads and manage your own time An ability to work under pressure Knowledge of safeguarding children and young adults Compliance of policies and procedures in a regulated health care provider.
