Job Summary The HR Advisory Team are looking to appoint a Senior HR Advisor. The role involves supporting highly complex and sensitive HR situations, demonstrating meaningful restoration through compassionate leadership, and developing as an HR professional within a Just Culture where learning is central. The position is agile and flexible, allowing home working and working across Trust sites as needed. Interviews will be held in person. Main Duties Member of the HR Advisory Team within the broader Workforce and Organisational Development team, providing generalist and specialist HR advice and guidance to Trust managers and staff regarding policies, procedures, and employment legislation. Support the operational HR Team in designing and implementing HR policies and procedures, and delivering specific projects aligned with the HR strategy. Assist the Human Resources Operations Manager, People Services Manager, Strategic Workforce Business Partners, Deputy Director of Workforce, and the operational HR team in delivering the operational HR service across the Trust. Collaborate with Staff Side colleagues to achieve delivery of the above. Lead communication of complex or sensitive issues, produce and amend policies and briefings, and provide training and support as required. Identify potential issues proactively, take preventative action, ensure legislative compliance, and advise managers on case management, fact‑finding, absence, concerns, and resolution matters. Represent the Trust at HR Special Interest groups and events as necessary. Develop and maintain relationships with other service providers (Occupational Health, payroll, pensions) and act as a link to ensure implementation of advice regarding return to work, reasonable adjustments, redeployments, ill‑health retirements, and other work‑related concerns. Work closely with Staff Side colleagues in developing, reviewing, and implementing HR policy and processes. Arrange, chair, and attend meetings for complex cases, policy development, and other HR matters. Coordinate concern or resolution meetings, prepare associated documentation. Conduct internal audits, review policies and processes, and provide assurance. Develop and deliver training for locality managers (e.g., absence management) that supports flexible working patterns. Review and develop HR policies and practices regularly to ensure alignment with legislation, and undertake research into best‑practice approaches and benchmarking. Undertake project work related to HR activities, ensuring implementation and monitoring. Employment Package Pay Scheme: Agenda for change Band: Band 6 Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per year Contract: Fixed term (6 months) Working pattern: Flexible and home working Location: Wonford House, Dryden Road, Exeter, Devon, EX2 5AF Qualifications & Experience Grad CIPD or equivalent specialist HR knowledge; significant operational HR experience. Experience working with senior managers. Experience managing or supporting organisational change. Experience negotiating with staff side representatives. Ability to manage a busy, diverse workload and prioritise. Desirable: Supervisory experience, NHS or Public Sector experience, knowledge of Electronic Staff Record. Communication & Working Relationship Skills Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to explain complex information. Ability to communicate with partner organisations. Capability to handle personal and confidential issues.
