The fellowship comprises of upper and lower gastrointestinal and colorectal surgery. Both offer access to theatre including laparoscopic and robotic lists. Additional training in endoscopy and ERCP is available and it is expected that the fellow will participate in clinics.The hospital and operates an on call emergency general surgery block, and it is expected that the fellowwill participate in a full elective and emergency rota.Person SpecificationQualificationsATLSMRCS equivalentMB, BSDistinctions, Scholarships, prizesSkills & KnowledgeUnderstands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protectionUnderstands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practiceUnderstands the principles of clinical governance - ensures patients are not put at riskDemonstrates a critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisitionEvidence of leadership qualities (not necessarily in medicine)Experience4 years post qualification experience of which 2 years of which must be in a general surgery post at ST1/2 level or equivalentDemonstrates experience of teaching and training ST1/2 or equivalent and F1sCompetent in basic procedures e.g. CPR, infection control, physical examination, history taking etc.Experience working at middle grade in a surgical specialityHas participated in clinical auditPrevious Research experienceDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
